The Royal Institute of Oil Painters has announced the next event in its series of Oil Masterclass events designed to encourage and support oil painters up and down the country.
It is to be held at the Middlesex headquarters of Winsor and Newton which has been making artists materials since 1832. Painters attending the one day Masterclass event will get a tour of the Winsor and Newton manufacturing plant. This will be in addition to Masterclass demonstrations by two ROI artists. Those attending the event will also receive a Winsor and Newton “goody bag” containing art materials to the value of £20
It’s the idea of ROI President Peter Wileman who commented: “This is a wonderful opportunity to see how the materials we use, and perhaps sometimes take for granted, are made. The aim is for an inclusive day that not only deals with the technical side of oil paint and painting but also a chance to watch a much admired British painter in action.
“Numbers are strictly limited so this will be first come first served”
The event is to be held on October 5.
Winsor and Newton’s plant is based at Harrow in Middlesex and has limited visitor car parking. It is only a few minutes’ walk from Harrow and Wealdstone Station which is served by both National Rail and London Underground.
